Joining Pictures with Words
Children’s books most often involve the careful balance of pictures and words. Illustrators add their unique perspective to complement the text.
Join us on Saturday, May 19 as two illustrators give us an in-depth look at their craft.
Writers can gain insights on how illustrators evaluate a text and pair it with images. Illustrators can pick up tips and tricks and talk shop with their peers.
The event is FREE to members and non-members, but registration is required so we know how many participants to expect.
We will have time after the presentations to chat and enjoy lunch! You can bring your own, or place an order for boxed lunches (from Jimmy John’s) – details on the registration form.
Author and illustrator Betsy Snyder has twenty years of experience creating products for the children's market. Her award-winning art can be found on everything from greeting cards, baby gifts, stickers, board games, fabric, wallpaper—and children’s books, of course! Since making her publishing debut in 2007, Betsy has worked with a diverse group of publishers, including Penguin Random House, Chronicle Books, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Simon & Schuster, Blue Apple Books, and Reader’s Digest Children’s Publishing. Her two newest titles, I Can Explore and I Can Dream, will be published by Chronicle Books this May.
Betsy's illustration style is best described as “digital collage”, playfully merging traditional media with digital techniques.
